Project Notes: The Zazen Residence is a 1-story house with a walkout basement set up in the quiet hills above Portland. The massive floor plan featured 3 wings, modeled as separate diaphragms all bound together with continuity ties. The center living wing was mostly glazed, so the concrete chimney was utilized for shear resistance.
