Project Notes: This 39-unit close-in housing project had a myriad of structural challenges resulting from high seismic forces stemming from the brick façade, meandering through a tricky lateral load path, culminating in a complicated steel framed “transfer slab” over parking. Plenty of custom detailing was required for the roof decks, special masonry shearwalls, and helical piers supporting 4 stories of structure over city-mandated below-grade stormwater cisterns.
